Yesterday was a day if rain, cold and train rides. Things learned: 1.) stopping in a small tucked away town with easy access to transit when exhausted is a good thing; 2.) taking the Eurostar from London to Paris versus the Chunnel is MUCH faster than the hovercraft was 20 some years ago...Lol (Back then, that was the fastest and most innovative as it didn't take the 3 hours from Dover to Calais that the barges at the time took); and 3.) there are people everywhere who want you to have a great experience in the city you are visiting (well, this isn't learned, just now, but definitely has been re-affirmed).
Bonjour Paris!
Here's the sights from the open window of the hotel room this morning:
(Above, like the snap at the beginning of the post, is a small gallerie that one could miss if not looking around for something unusual.)
Outside the Louvre along the Seine:
The East view of the Seine:
The West view of the Seine:
For the romantics out there, here's the famous bridge...sparkling in the mid-morning light made of gold...
Pick a metal, any metal. For those of you unfamilar with this bridge, it is covered in locks on sides.
And it even wraps around... The story goes that when a couple comes to Paros for the first time, they are to put a lock on the bridge, kiss and then throw the keys into the river. Their love will remain in tact. AWWW... ❤❤❤❤
On with the show...tourist time again and it was a river cruise on the Seine. For the sake of time, I will label these when possible.
There will be more major sites tomorrow as a bus tour is on the planner before taking off for the next stop...still to be determined.
This is a bit of St. Germaine-des-pres. Lunch at Cafe de Flores (no snaps, sorry) and then a walk around...
Oh and did I mention the hotel is located near L'Opera?
